About education

The best thing for being sad,"
replied Merlin, beginning to puff and
blow, "is to learn something. That's the
only thing that never fails. You may grow
old and trembling in your anatomies,
you may lie awake at night listening to
the disorder of your veins, you may miss
your only love, you may see the world
about you devastated by evil lunatics, or
know your honour trampled in the
sewers of baser minds. There is only one
thing for it then — to learn. Learn why
the world wags and what wags it. That is
the only thing which the mind can never
exhaust, never alienate, never be
tortured by, never fear or distrust, and
never dream of regretting. Learning is
the only thing for you. Look what a lot
of things there are to learn.

About eduladder

About us

Welcome to eduladder (The open learning system).

Vision

Eduladder is firmly guided by the philosophy of “kurvanto vishwam aaryaayam”, a sanskrit quote that means "let the whole world become noble!".

Eduladder Is founded with the strong vision of transforming the least privileged last human being on this planet earth to realize their fullest potential our aim is to ensure that every individual is able, with ease to achieve the very purpose they wish to achieve. And for them to have access to literature and guidance that will aid in their endeavours
To do this we believe tradition must go hand in hand with technology, and this we have set out to accomplish with our eduladder programme
Mission

At eduladder  we commit ourselves to redefining the process of educating our youth. Our intention is to shift from a mechanistic model of education to one that consider the student an individual. We wish to be able to make education economically accessible for everyone and to encourage youth to encage in learning and furthering their education.

How do we propose to do this

*By promoting the value of education for everyone everywhere.

*By encouraging students to work hard towards a higher standard of education, incorporating modern technology and digital resources.

*By providing life skill training so that the youth learn to make safe, smart and responsible choices. This topic is being covered thoroughly through our eduladder workshop namely 'Vidya suthra'.

*By reducing the cost of education to make it easily available  to everyone. This is being achieved through eduladder's technology integrated free learning center.

Moving from 'taking money for making money' to 'take and give' is our objective. We intented to design a common database of notes and study materials which can be editable by every one and an open library which helps you to list the books you have  and allow you to easily exchange what you no longer need with those in need of this material This work is licensed under creative common attribution- to make sure it is 'copyleft'.

FAQ

A) Why Eduladder?

Eduladder came into existence because we believe that education should be free and accessible to all. Our first aim is to reduce the cost of education.

Most students have to spend to spend around 450 rs on every text book that is needed.  This could cost 3600 rs a semester.

A four year graduation program costs 28800 rs in total. A note taken from our open learning system on any subject can be copied to paper and will cost 30 ps (present bulk xerox charge) for each page. A particular note (book) around 200 pages which can be made as a zerox for 60 rs, a semester 480 rs, yearly 3840 rs.  This means that the project will benefit each student by saving 24960 rs on text books alone. Saving around 86.5% of the total cost needed for textbooks!

B)Libraries exist for this, so why a web-based system?

Libraries are there; but they can't provide full access to students and are limited. At Eduladder, students can attach their material to their profile more easily, than from a college library where the materials are always changing. Besides this, we act as a social network platform.

C)Why is Eduladder using creative commons' licence - Why are  we adopting an
open source philosophy?

We believe in the ideology practised by the masterminds of ancient India - 'education should be free and accessible for every one'. Previous years only the educational contents were licenced. So we are eliminating that licence system by a creative commons' licence enabling the students to have freedom to remix and reuse. Nobody can use these contents for commercial purposes.
